Currently we are working on decluttering the 2nd bathroom. The daily task for today, April 26th, is to begin decluttering your soaps. Remember, we are focusing on just the 2nd Bathroom area, so don’t declutter your whole house. We will cover each room separately.

10 Simple Steps to a More Organized and Tidy Bathroom

  • Start by decluttering: The first step to organizing any space is to get rid of items you no longer need or use. Go through your bathroom cabinets and drawers and get rid of expired products, items you don’t use, and anything that’s broken or damaged. Don’t skip this step! We don’t want to organize clutter. Be honest with yourself and only keep what you need and will actually use.

  • Group like items together: Once you’ve decluttered, group similar items together, such as all your hair care products, skincare products, and so on. This makes it easier to find what you need and keeps everything in its place. Just place everything on the bathroom counter and sort it by category. Declutter what you don’t use and then store the rest.

  • Use storage containers: Invest in some storage containers to keep everything organized. You can use clear containers so you can easily see what’s inside, or choose decorative containers to add some style to your space. You don’t need to spend a lot of money getting organized. I personally am very frugal, so I love using those dollar store containers. They work just as well for us. I also like using plastic storage bins in the bathroom, as it is easier to clean.

  • Maximize wall space: If you’re short on counter or storage space, consider using your walls to your advantage. Install shelves, hooks, or a towel bar to hang towels and other items. Again, make sure you have decluttered first. You may find you need less storage than you think once you pare down your essentials.
  • Label everything: Labeling your containers and storage spaces can help you quickly find what you need and keep everything in its place. It also helps others in your household know where things belong.

  • Keep cleaning supplies handy: To keep your bathroom tidy, it’s important to clean it regularly. Keep cleaning supplies in a caddy or on a shelf where they’re easily accessible. For the daily bathroom cleanup, I like sanitizing wipes. I usually just keep one canister of wipes in each bathroom.
  • Use a shower caddy: A shower caddy can help you keep your shower essentials organized and within reach. Choose a caddy that fits your needs, whether you need space for shampoo, conditioner, and soap or prefer to keep razors and loofahs handy. I use a shower caddy that holds all of our shampoos, conditioners, and body washes to keep these organized.
  • Don’t forget about the medicine cabinet: The medicine cabinet can easily become cluttered with expired medication and unused products. Go through it regularly and get rid of anything that’s no longer needed.
  • Keep it simple: The more items you have, the harder it is to keep your bathroom organized. Keep things simple by using multi-purpose products and only buying what you need. This is key! If you are prone to always buying items that are on sale, this will lead to bathroom clutter. Do you really need all of those scented lotions? Do you use 10 different hair styling products? Try paring it down to a few that you love.
  • Maintain regularly: The key to a tidy and organized bathroom is maintenance. Make a habit of going through your bathroom regularly to declutter and tidy up.
10 Simple Steps to a More Organized and Tidy Bathroom

By following these 10 simple steps, you can achieve a more organized and tidy bathroom that’s easy to maintain. With a little effort, you can transform your bathroom into a calm and relaxing space that you’ll love spending time in.

I personally have a bad habit of placing items that need to be donated in the laundry room behind the door. Out of sight, out of mind, right? Wrong. Delaying decisions means we still need to declutter.

Maybe you have a habit of delaying decisions, too. Let’s decide today where your decluttered items need to go. Do they need to be donated? Disposed of? Don’t delay that decision any longer. If they need to be donated, sort and put them in your vehicle. Then, make a note in your calendar to drop them off at your favorite charity.

As you are decluttering your items, I want you to try not to just move them to another room. You may be tempted to do that. However, resist the urge to keep everything. Decluttering means we actually part with these items. Otherwise, assign those items a permanent home where you can best utilize them.

Easy Steps to an Organized and Tidy Bathroom

1.Only spend time on your specific daily task.

2.Do not get side-tracked or distracted.

3.Work within a time of day that you have the most energy and stamina. This is one of the most useful declutter motivation tips. Listen to your body and work at decluttering when you feel the most alert and energized.

4.Avoid thinking too long about whether to keep or discard an item. This is one specific way for How to Be Ruthless When Decluttering.

5.Avoid cleaning during your declutter. The goal is to purge the dead weight. Getting rid of the clutter is your priority. Cleaning can be accomplished later. Read on for more declutter motivation tips and my room specific deep clean checklist, though, as you will begin cleaning after your declutter.

Easy Steps to Declutter Your Bathroom: Organized and Tidy Bathroom tips

Supplies Needed:

1. boxes -preferably ones you can donate (Avoid plastic storage bins because you may be tempted to just store the items and not part with them.)

2. sturdy trash bags

3. marker/pen to label boxes

Decluttering Tip: Avoid using storage bins to declutter. Storage bins tend to tell your brain to “store” the items for later. That is just delaying decisions. If you aren’t getting rid of items when you declutter, you are not truly decluttering. This is why I recommend a trash bag, also. A trash bag tells your brain to “trash” the item.

Obviously, recycle if you have that option. The boxes you use should be ones you are willing to part with, so I recommend sturdy cardboard boxes. As to donations, there are many charities that will come pick up your items for you at your home.

I use one in particular where you can book an appointment for pick-up online. This is so convenient, as it saves you the hassle of hauling stuff away yourself. Scheduling that pick-up also motivates you to declutter by a certain date.

Minimalist Tips: Easy Steps to a more Organized and Tidy Bathroom

1. Start by eliminating trash first- use a sturdy trash bag

2. Sort items by category if needed so you can see what you have

3.Get rid of items that don’t work or that work poorly, expired items, anything you don’t love, anything that you’ll never use again

4. Box up the donations and trash/recycle the rest

5.Select a charity to donate your items and schedule the pick-up if that is an option
