Steps For How to Clean an Iron

Eliminating marks on the iron’s soleplate is very easy.

  • Set your stove on low heat.
  • In a pan, pour equal quantities of vinegar and salt.
  • Heat them continuously until they turn into a paste.
  • Remove the scorch marks rubbing the paste right on the soleplate of your iron.
  • You can also use an old toothbrush to scour the iron surface

For safety, be certain that the iron is disconnected from any power source before cleaning it. Use a clean cloth and water to remove the paste after you scour the iron plate.

Other Methods –

If you lack time, you can use another quick fix solution to resolve the problem. Purchase some distilled vinegar. Use this solution to rub on the affected areas. After that, use a clean fabric to wipe away that the dirt and stains. Use a clean cloth along with water and a mild detergent to complete the task.

If the iron has a non coated plate, you can safely use a metal polish. Take a clean cloth and then add a few  drops of metal polish on it. Gently rub the plate with the cloth.

Repeat the process until the scorched iron plate is free of the dirt and unsightly marks. Wipe clean with dish soap and water after, so you do not transfer any stains to the clothes you iron.

To guarantee your safety, never forget to unplug the iron first before cleaning. This may prevent electric shock. And, always exercise safety by not getting any water near an iron that is plugged into an electrical outlet.
