The Quick and Easy Way to Declutter Your Garage in Just One Day
- Set aside a full day for the task. To make real progress, you’ll need to dedicate an entire day to decluttering your garage. Pick a day when you can work without interruption and enlist help from family or friends if needed.
- Gather your supplies. Before you begin, make sure you have everything you need, such as garbage bags, recycling bins, cleaning supplies, and storage containers. It’s also a good idea to wear sturdy shoes, gloves, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
- Sort items into keep, donate, and discard piles. As you start going through the items in your garage, create three piles: one for items you want to keep, one for items you can donate, and one for items that are beyond repair and need to be discarded. Don’t forget to recycle what you can.
- Be ruthless. Don’t hold onto items that you haven’t used in years or that are broken and unlikely to be fixed. It can be difficult to part with sentimental items, but you’ll be surprised at how much better you’ll feel once you’ve cleared out the clutter.
- Create storage zones. Once you’ve sorted through everything, create designated storage areas for different categories of items. For example, lawn equipment can be stored together, while holiday decorations can be stored in another area. Invest in shelves, hooks, and other storage solutions to make the most of your space.
- Clean up. After you’ve finished decluttering, give your garage a good cleaning. Sweep or vacuum the floor, wipe down surfaces, and get rid of any cobwebs or dust. This will help to create a fresh, organized space.
- Keep it organized. Finally, commit to keeping your garage organized going forward. Regularly go through items to keep the clutter at bay and make sure everything has a designated place. This will not only make it easier to find what you need but will also make your garage a more functional space.

With these tips, you can declutter your garage in just one day. You can transform your cluttered garage into an organized and functional space in no time. Remember to stay focused, be ruthless, and create designated storage areas for different categories of items.

Declutter Your Garage in Just One Day: 5 IMPORTANT guidelines to keep you on task:
1.Only spend time on your specific daily task.
2.Do not get side-tracked or distracted.
3.Work within a time of day that you have the most energy and stamina.
4.Avoid thinking too long about whether to keep or discard an item. Recruit help if you are stuck in the decision process.
5.Avoid cleaning during your declutter. Getting rid of the clutter is your priority. Cleaning can be accomplished later.
We are working in the Garage this week. Your task today for today, May 26th, is to: Declutter any unwanted or broken electric tools and cords.
Maybe, if you’re like me, you hold onto boxes of some of your more expensive purchases, such as a TV or computer, just in case you need to return them within the store’s return policy time. If so, make a note to discard these boxes routinely(once a month is fine), so they don’t pile up.
Tip: When dealing with sentimental items such as trophies and photos, consider how you might display them in your home if you plan to keep them. For photos, consider storing them in a box or an album in your home.
