Declutter House Tips: Your task today for August 20th is to: Declutter your spices.

Here is my BEFORE PHOTO:

A Few Tips:

  • Declutter anything that is expired.
  • Declutter any spices you never use.
  • Get rid of anything that doesn’t have a lid.

Just a quick recap for the task we completed yesterday, August 19th. The task for August 19th was to declutter your storage containers. Remember, we are working in the kitchen, so focus on that room only.

I try to keep and reuse containers whenever possible. I was able to put containers within larger containers. I also made sure I had matching lids. I was able to get rid of a few lids that didn’t match anything.

As you may also, I had way more lids than matching containers, so I had to locate them all and discard what wasn’t useful.

While today’s task wasn’t a huge change for me, it still created more order and caused me to become more aware of what I have. Being aware of what you own and only keeping things that are useful to you creates a more thankful attitude. If you missed Saturday’s post, I encourage you to check it out and consider the concept of thankfulness as it relates to decluttering.

I hope you are making great progress in this Year Long Thorough Declutter Series. If you’ve just now joined us in this series, we began on August 12th, so feel free to check out my previous posts if you want to catch up. We are currently working in the kitchen, decluttering 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.

If the process seems slow to you, that is the point. The most lasting changes are the ones we make daily and slowly that help us to form new and better habits. I want to encourage you as you make progress, so you will be able to stick to this new “decluttered and organized” life you are developing. If you miss a day, don’t lose heart, just jump back into the game.

Also, try to recruit a friend or two to join you so you can keep each other motivated. Sometimes, a little social support is all you need to keep going strong. Subscribe to my blog to get those tasks and updates emailed to you.
