However, with so much activity going on in this space, it’s easy for clutter to accumulate quickly. 1. Set a goal and prioritize

Before you start decluttering, it’s important to set a goal for what you want to accomplish. Do you want to create more counter space? Simplify your cabinets? Once you’ve identified your goal, prioritize which areas of your kitchen you want to tackle first.

  1. Empty and sort

The next step is to empty out the area you’re decluttering. For example, if you’re decluttering your cabinets, take everything out and sort items into piles. You might have a pile for items to keep, items to donate, and items to throw away.

  1. Get rid of duplicates and unused items

As you sort through your items, get rid of duplicates and items you haven’t used in a long time. If you have multiple sets of dishes, for example, consider donating one set. If you have appliances you never use, like a bread maker or a waffle iron, consider selling or donating them.

  1. Organize what’s left

Once you’ve identified what you want to keep, it’s time to organize it. Consider investing in drawer dividers, cabinet organizers, and other storage solutions to make the most of your space. Labeling items can also be helpful in keeping things organized.

  1. Keep it up

Decluttering your kitchen is a great first step, but it’s important to keep up with it to prevent clutter from accumulating again. Take a few minutes each day to put things away and keep surfaces clean.

In conclusion, decluttering your kitchen can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to take up all your time and energy. By following the tips outlined in this post, you can quickly and efficiently organize your kitchen and make it a more functional and enjoyable space. Remember to regularly review and maintain your decluttered kitchen to prevent it from becoming cluttered again. With a little effort and consistency, you can create a clutter-free kitchen that makes meal prep and cooking a breeze.

How to Declutter your Kitchen Fast

A few guidelines to keep you on task:

1.Only spend time on your specific daily task.

2.Do not get side-tracked or distracted.

3.Work within a time of day that you have the most energy and stamina.

4.Avoid thinking too long about whether to keep or discard an item. Recruit help if you are stuck in the decision process.

5.Avoid cleaning during your declutter. Getting rid of the clutter is your priority. Cleaning can be accomplished later.

Your task today for today, September 5th is to: Declutter cookbooks, daily dishes, and cups.

Decluttering Tips:

  • Declutter any cookbooks you never use.
  • Declutter anything that’s broken.
  • Get rid of anything that you haven’t used in a year.
  • Get rid of any cups that have missing lids.

If you have oversized cups, you may find that they are too tall to fit in the cabinet. As you arrange your cups and bottles, consider storing the larger ones vertically as seen in my photo below. I used magazine files to keep them from rolling around. I like that I can now easily see what I have so I can grab a water bottle without having to dig around behind the other ones.
