Complete Home Deep Clean and Declutter Plan

Step 1: Set a Schedule

The first step in my complete home deep clean and declutter plan involves a schedule. Before diving into the cleaning process, set aside dedicated time for each room. Create a realistic schedule that allows you to focus on one area at a time. This way, you won’t feel overwhelmed, and you can track your progress effectively. You can find my housekeeping schedule here.

Step 2: Gather Supplies

Make sure you have all the necessary cleaning supplies and tools on hand. This may include:

  • All-purpose cleaner
  • Microfiber cloths
  • Broom and dustpan
  • Mop
  • Trash bags
  • Storage bins
  • Organizational tools (shelving, baskets)

Having the right tools will streamline the process and ensure you’re well-equipped to tackle any cleaning task.

Step 3: Declutter

Start by decluttering each room. Identify items you no longer need or use and set them aside for donation or disposal. Be ruthless in your decision-making—less clutter means less to clean and organize. You can also get my home declutter checklists here.

Step 4: Deep Clean

Once the clutter is cleared, focus on a thorough deep clean. This may include:

  • Dusting all surfaces
  • Wiping down walls and baseboards
  • Cleaning windows and mirrors
  • Vacuuming or washing floors
  • Scrubbing kitchen and bathroom surfaces
  • Laundering curtains and linens

Addressing each room systematically ensures no corner is overlooked.

Step 5: Organize and Store

After cleaning, assess the organization of each room. Invest in storage solutions like shelves, baskets, and bins to keep items in their designated places. This not only maintains cleanliness but also makes it easier to find and access your belongings.

Step 6: Maintenance Plan

The final step in my complete home deep clean and declutter plan is to make a plan to maintain all your hard work. To prevent future clutter and maintain a clean home, establish a simple maintenance plan. Designate a few minutes each day to tidy up and address small cleaning tasks. This consistent effort will save you from the need for another deep clean in the future.

Embarking on a complete home deep clean and declutter plan may seem like a daunting task, but breaking it down into manageable steps makes it achievable. By following this plan, you’ll not only enjoy a cleaner and more organized living space but also create a routine that promotes long-term cleanliness. Happy cleaning!
