Struggling to decide if an item is clutter? Use these questions below to help you determine whether to keep or toss any item.

How to Get Rid of Stuff You Don’t Need: A Guide to Decluttering and Optimizing Your Space
- Make a list of items to get rid of Start by making a list of all the items you want to get rid of. This could be anything from clothes you haven’t worn in a year, to kitchen appliances you never use, to books you’ve already read. Having a list will make it easier to keep track of what you’re getting rid of and what you’re keeping.
- Sort items into categories Once you have your list, sort the items into categories such as clothes, kitchen items, books, etc. This will make it easier for you to see how much stuff you have in each category and to make decisions about what to keep and what to get rid of.
- Decide what to keep and what to get rid of Take a closer look at each item and decide whether you want to keep it or get rid of it. Ask yourself questions like: “When was the last time I used this?” or “Is this item still in good condition?” If you haven’t used an item in a year or it’s in poor condition, it’s time to get rid of it.
- Donate or sell items in good condition If an item is still in good condition but you no longer need it, consider donating it to a local charity or selling it online. This is a great way to make some extra money and help others at the same time.
- Dispose of items in poor condition If an item is in poor condition and can’t be donated or sold, it’s time to dispose of it. Check with your local government to see what your options are for disposal. Some items can be recycled, while others need to be taken to a landfill.
- Repeat the process regularly Decluttering is not a one-time event. It’s important to repeat the process regularly, perhaps once or twice a year, to ensure that you’re keeping only what you need and getting rid of the rest.

By following these tips, you can get rid of the things you don’t need, create a more organized and efficient living space, and improve your overall quality of life. So don’t wait, start decluttering today!

As for the pantry declutter, I just follow the guidelines on decluttering: Is it expired? Do I ever plan to use this?, etc.. You can also donate nonperishables to your local food pantries and churches. People are in great need now because of the rising cost of groceries. I also have free printable food labels for your pantry. You can find that in the Printables category in the drop down menu at the top of my blog.
