8 Easy Tips to Keep Your Bathroom Cleaner

Easy Tips to Keep Your Bathroom Cleaner

  1. Daily Maintenance: The first of my easy tips to keep your bathroom cleaner is daily maintenance. The key to a consistently clean bathroom is regular maintenance. Take a few minutes each day to wipe down surfaces, such as the sink and countertop, with a gentle disinfectant. This simple habit prevents the accumulation of grime and makes deep cleaning less daunting.
  2. Invest in Quality Cleaning Supplies: The next on my list of easy tips to keep your bathroom cleaner is using products that are effective. Having the right cleaning supplies can make a world of difference. Invest in quality bathroom cleaners, disinfectants, and microfiber cloths. Microfiber is excellent for capturing and removing bacteria and dirt, leaving your bathroom surfaces sparkling clean. Try my DIY daily shower spray or this shower cleaner I use every week that keeps the showers and tubs cleaner with just a spray.
  3. Organize Your Essentials: Keep your bathroom essentials well-organized to minimize clutter and make cleaning more straightforward. Use storage solutions like baskets, trays, or drawer organizers to store toiletries, towels, and other items. When everything has its place, it’s easier to wipe down surfaces and maintain order.
  4. Squeegee Your Shower: To prevent water spots and soap scum buildup on your shower doors or tiles, keep a squeegee handy. After each shower, quickly run the squeegee over the wet surfaces to remove excess water. This helps maintain a cleaner and more inviting shower space. One of my favorite easy tips to keep your bathroom cleaner is to use the shower spray linked above to prevent soap scum buildup.
  5. Regularly Wash Shower Curtains and Mats: Shower curtains and bath mats are often overlooked, but they can harbor mold and mildew if not cleaned regularly. Check the care instructions and toss them in the washing machine as needed. A fresh shower curtain and clean bath mat contribute significantly to the overall cleanliness of your bathroom. We use a white fabric shower curtain that can easily be tossed in the laundry with the towels. If you opt for a rug without a rubber backing, you can also throw it in the wash with other items.
  6. Unclog Drains Naturally: Avoid chemical drain cleaners that can be harsh and damaging to your pipes. Instead, opt for natural alternatives. Pour a mixture of baking soda and vinegar down the drain, followed by hot water, to keep drains clear and prevent unpleasant odors.
  7. Keep Trash Bins Covered: Bathroom trash bins can quickly become breeding grounds for bacteria and unpleasant odors. Invest in trash bins with lids to contain the waste and make sure to empty them regularly. Consider using trash bags for easy disposal and maintenance. One of my daily cleaning tasks and easy tips to keep your bathroom cleaner is to go through every room in the house and grab that trash from that room.
  8. Ventilate Properly: Adequate ventilation is crucial in preventing mold and mildew growth. Run the bathroom fan during and after showers to reduce humidity. If your bathroom doesn’t have a fan, consider opening a window or using a dehumidifier to maintain a dry environment. People often overlook ventilation but it really makes a difference. If you don’t have a bathroom fan, make sure you leave the bathroom door open after you finish showering to keep the moisture from lingering in the bathroom. Weather permitting, you can open a window, as well. This ventilation practice helps with odors, too.
