Home Office Decluttering Hacks
1. The 5-Minute Rule
Kickstart your home office decluttering with the 5-minute rule. Set a timer for just five minutes and focus on decluttering a small area. You’ll be amazed at how much you can accomplish in this short burst of time.
2. Drawer Dividers and Organizers
Tame the chaos within your desk drawers with dividers and organizers. These handy tools ensure that each item has its designated space, preventing jumbled messes and making everything easily accessible.

3. Digital Decluttering Schedule
Don’t forget to declutter your digital space! Schedule regular intervals to clean up your computer files, emails, and apps. Create folders, delete duplicates, and archive old documents to maintain digital organization.
4. Vertical Wall Storage
Maximize your space by utilizing vertical wall storage. Install shelves, hooks, and pegboards to keep frequently used items within arm’s reach, freeing up your desk surface.

5. Minimalist Desk Setup
Adopt a minimalist approach to your desk setup. Keep only the essentials, such as your computer, notepad, and a few decor items. A clutter-free desk enhances focus and creativity.
6. Cord Management Solutions
Tangled cords can create visual chaos and clutter. Invest in cord management solutions like clips, sleeves, and organizers to keep cables neat and untangled.
7. The “One In, One Out” Rule

Maintain a clutter-free home office by following the “one in, one out” rule. For every new item you bring in, remove one item that no longer serves its purpose.
8. Zone Your Workspace
Divide your home office into zones based on tasks. Designate areas for working, storage, and reference materials. This ensures that items are placed strategically and that you can easily find what you need.
9. Create a Paper Flow System
Establish a paper flow system to handle incoming documents. Use trays or folders labeled “To Do,” “To File,” and “To Shred” to manage papers effectively and reduce paper clutter.
10. Regular Decluttering Routine
Make decluttering a routine habit. Dedicate a few minutes each day to tidying up your home office. This prevents clutter from piling up and maintains an organized environment.

With these smart home office decluttering hacks, you’re well on your way to creating an organized, efficient, and inspiring workspace. By implementing these strategies, you’ll enjoy enhanced productivity, reduced stress, and a renewed sense of clarity. Remember, a clutter-free home office sets the stage for your success and fosters a space where you can thrive both professionally and creatively.
A few guidelines to keep you on task:
1.Only spend time on your specific daily task.
2.Do not get side-tracked or distracted.
3.Work within a time of day that you have the most energy and stamina.
4.Avoid thinking too long about whether to keep or discard an item. Recruit help if you are stuck in the decision process.

5.Avoid cleaning during your declutter. Getting rid of the clutter is your priority. Cleaning can be accomplished later.
We are working in the home office this week. Your task today for today, February 20th is to: Declutter any bills that are paid.
According to the IRS, you should maintain and keep the last seven years of your tax records.
Bonus tip: Scan all your paper files all with your smart phone into my favorite “paperless” phone app – Evernote. Even if you plan to keep some important documents, this a great way to keep those items stored digitally in case of a fire or natural disaster.
