Welcome to our comprehensive guide on maintaining the pristine condition of your beloved AirPods and earbuds. We all know the euphoria of listening to our favorite tunes or engaging in a gripping podcast, but with great audio comes great responsibility—keeping those tiny gadgets clean and hygienic. Over time, these pocket-sized companions accumulate dirt, earwax, and other unmentionables, which not only affect their performance but also pose potential health risks.
Fear not, for we’re here to equip you with simple yet effective techniques to ensure your AirPods and earbuds stay sparkling clean and deliver top-notch sound quality every time you pop them in your ears. Let’s dive into the world of earbud hygiene and learn how to give your audio accessories the TLC they deserve.
With regards to sound quality, earpods may not be as complex as their normal size headset counterparts. However, many of these headphones known as earbuds, airpods, or earpods are reasonably priced and portable making them a favorite. I personally love my AirPods.
That’s why music lovers cannot forego their headphones when there are better and newer models that continue flooding the gadgets marketplace. If you are one of them, you could make your headphones last longer by keeping them clean. Today, we’ll explore how to clean your AirPods without damaging them.
You might not realize it, but dirt and grime could make their way onto your earbuds with time. Add to that the perspiration and wax from your ears. Dirt that is accumulated looks disgusting, but it can also be detrimental to the proper performance of your earbuds. So, let’s dive right in and learn how you can clean your earpods.

In some cases, you can expect them to turn grayish following a period of not cleaning them. So, it’s very important you know how to wash your earphones. Dirt might not be fully removed by using your shirt or handkerchief to wipe away dirt.
What you need is a cleaning alternative that can loosen dirt that is hardened on your earbuds’ rubber and plastic parts. Soap and water or hydrogen peroxide may do the task.
To begin with the cleaning, remove your headphones. Maintain away from your player, and unplug it to avoid grounding or short circuiting. Mix soap with water until it is slippery enough to dissolve grime.
Dip a lint free fabric into the soap water solution. Squeeze any excess water that can emerge after applying pressure. This is to prevent water from getting into the wires of your earphones.

In addition, be sure that soap does not get into the holes of your headphones to avoid damage. In case the mesh of your earbuds has collected any grime, use an old, dry toothbrush to scratch dirt away.
Apart from maintaining the performance of the earbud headphones, cleaning them is, of course, very hygienic. The earwax which has built up on your headphones might contain harmful micro-organisms, which can cause skin irritation.
So be cautious when sharing your headphones with others. And, do not forget to clean your earbuds regularly.
